Many of our hosts are starting to think about their Halloween plans for the year, so today we are featuring Alex’s party from last year’s holiday, which has become a continuing tradition for her and her friends. Let’s see if Set Sail For Disaster was a deadly success or a murderous disaster.
I hosted a Murder Mystery party aboard the Orient Express last year for Halloween, and everyone could NOT stop talking about it. So, of course, I had to carry on the tradition! We had a difficult time deciding between the cruise ship kit or casino night kit, but we finally decided on “Set Sail for Disaster.” I was so excited that this year’s party lived up to everyone’s high expectations again this year.
Alex decided to give gifts to the best actor, actress, and guest with the best costume. This was intended to motivate people to get into the spirit of things.
Who do you think won the contest?
Some of the guests posted about the event on Facebook saying that “Alex did it again! Set Sail for Disaster was a deadly success” and “thanks for putting this together. It was great.” This party was in October, but we’re still talking about it!
Alex made a very cool beverage that she dubbed “Ocean Water,” but it earned other nicknames such as “Blue Drank” and “Death Juice”.
The decorations and costumes were definitely top notch. We can’t wait to see what murder mystery Alex will choose for 2018!
Some of the menu items for the evening included a cruise ship style buffet that included shrimp cocktail and seafood ravioli. The guests also brought wonderful appetizers and tasty desserts.
Music for the evening included Jimmy Buffet, Slightly Stoopid, and plenty of other beach type songs to assist in setting the mood.
Alex also used a sound machine with a thunder storm setting and purchased a couple of fake cruise ship portholes. She stuck these to the walls of her foyer. She also had a flotation device and maritime flags that she made herself!
My favorite way we set the mood were the costumes!! My friends outdid themselves again! Some people even committed to accents the entire night!
It is always a pleasure to hear about the joy our murder mysteries bring to families and various types of groups. We do hope that Alex will send us more great pictures and wonderful details about her next party.
