Playing With Murder doesn’t provide video chat rooms directly, but there are many different services out there (both free and paid) that you can use to remotely connect with your players. Here is a short list of some popular, free services:

  • Zoom (works on mobile, macOS and PC/laptop)
    • Popular service that offers free group chats with a time limitation. Despite their name, many 30 Minute Mystery parties run anywhere from 30-60 minutes so consider using paid account to remove time restriction.
    • Hosts can change the display names of their participants to their characters’ names, which makes it easier for everyone to keep track of who’s who. NOTE: individuals can also change their own names.
  • Skype (all users need to download free app, works on mobile, macOS and PC/laptop)
    • Players can display their characters’ names on the video chat (by changing their user names), which makes it easier to keep track of who’s who during the game.
  • Google Hangouts (all players need free Google account, works on mobile, macOS & PC/laptop)
  • Facetime (all users must have an iOS device to use this free app)
