Backstory
Your guests will play the roles of various inhabitants of the North Pole, including elves, reindeer, snowmen, and other creatures from Christmas folklore. Santa Claus has summoned everyone to his workshop. The normally jolly old man has a stern look on his bearded face as he solemnly tells us that his workshop has been broken into and his magic sack of Christmas presents has been stolen! Without the sack, there can be no Christmas.
Solving the Mystery
Santa has called everyone to gather because they are under suspicion of theft! One of the helpers is responsible, and the group needs to find out who. There’s no time to spare; it’s Christmas Eve, and if the sack of toys isn’t recovered soon, Santa won’t be able to deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls!
There are 8 primary characters in this game. Read the "How to Play" section for instructions on how to play this game with more than 8 people.

- Donner: One of Santa's eight tiny reindeer, Donner is well known for his frequent complaints regarding the difficulty of the Christmas sleigh flight.
- Ivan Blizzard: Lead Foreman at the Toy Factory, Ivan is an enthusiastic go-getter whose utter devotion to Christmas has never been questioned.
- Ernest Winters: One of Santa's elves, Ernest's enthusiasm for Christmas has notably waned in the past six months.
- Kristina Kringle: Also known as the Christmas Fairy, Kristina Kringle was once a famous holiday icon; some suspect that she is bitter that Santa Claus has stolen her glory.
- Caroline Claus: Mrs. Claus is Santa's wife and second-in-command; she is one of the most beloved inhabitants of the North Pole.
- Tonya Baum: A beautifully decorated singing Christmas tree planted outside the Toy Factory, Tonya is a gentle soul who always has a kind word and a Christmas carol for any passersby.
- Jacky Frost: An animated snowwoman brought to life by an enchanted hat, Jacky Frost is responsible for imbuing all of Santa's toys with a dash of Christmas magic.
- The Krampus: Santa's least-beloved helper, the Krampus is the monster who brings coal and switches to the children on Santa's "naughty" list.
Extra Players
- *Investigator: If you have more than 8 players, additional players have the option of playing the role of "Investigators". In this role the players are not suspects and do not have character backgrounds but can question the suspects and try to solve the mystery along with the other players.

Headline Fun with Cousins via Zoom!

We played There Might Be No Christmas over Zoom with my kids and all their cousins. The children ranged in age from 12 to 4, with the younger children teaming up with a parent or teenage sibling helper. Everyone loved it! I was a little nervous at first, because a couple of the older cousins had been a little reluctant — they had wanted to go play in the snow with their friends — but in the end they both said they really enjoyed it and would like to do one again. We were too busy having fun to remember to take a screen shot! Everyone, from the youngest child to the childless aunt and uncle who had joined to watch, had a blast!

Theme Highlights We used fancy xmas backdrops and everyone dressed in costume for their characters. Even Krampus made an appearance
This was awesome! Fun, easy, and something cool to do with all our family that we couldn’t be with this year. Everyone of my participants dressed in character, the instructions were clear, there was enough backstory for each character for my guests to really get into it, and there were clues! Very cool. Ours took a bit longer than 30 mins, but that’s bc we were having fun! Only 1 person guessed the thief right. But 3 rounds was the perfect pace for the game. Great purchase for the price and well developed and thought out.

Our family loves to play games when we are together on Christmas Eve. With COVID, we followed guidelines and did not gather in person, but we did have a blast with the virtual version of There Might Be No Christmas. People created costumes for their characters and this really helped get us into the Christmas spirit. I think the instructions said it would take about 30 minutes to play. Ours lasted an hour because everyone was having so much fun improvising lines for their character.

We downloaded the virtual version of “There might be no Christmas” for our 2 daughter’s families this year as we were not getting together. The materials received were excellent, the downloading and printing was easy, and the explanation of the game procedure was clear. However…..as most everyone has experienced in the pandemic with all of the different virtual platforms, we had issues with not being able to hear each other well. There were 13 of us in total with kids aged 5 to 13 and while we all had props (so fun to buy them and critical to get people into character) and everyone was into it – it was difficult to hear and to really get the benefit from all the clues and comments by the various characters while playing the game. I think this would be an excellent idea to try again in person but for 13 people virtually, it wasnt ideal. It also took closer to one hour rather than the 30 minutes described. Summary – star rating is because we would absolutely try it again but in person – virtual is too hard with young kids.

Menu Highlights I sent out the character sheets a couple weeks ahead so everyone would have time to plan a costume. We added a best costume vote at the end our game. Lots of laughs!

Menu Highlights Each girl created their own crazy drink, Christmas cookies, I had homemade turtles and of course candy canes.
Theme Highlights I mailed out invites in big red envelopes and added candy canes, directions on creating crazy drinks, and added a few cookie recipes. I also encouraged them to decorate their area so we could see them. I had Christmas music playing in the background
It was our annual Girl Guide Christmas party done via Google Classroom was the bomb!! We did a “invite a friend” event to add more girls to the party and everyone was decked out in Christmas attire. We had a few new girls for the event and after a few minutes all just got into their roles and we had a blast. What a fun night.
